The Life Of Hercules
After Hercules was born , his life was not easy. His connections with people were horrible - all because of Hera, Zeus's wife. Zeus cheated on Hera , and had two children Iphicles and Hercules. When Hera heard that Zeus cheated on her, she tried to kill Hercules as a baby. Each time she tried to kill him she failed - due to Hercules's strength (which she had mistakenly given to him!) All thru out his life, Hera continuously followed him, causing many of the events that Hercules had to deal with. As a kid Hercules realized how strong he was, and how easily he could get angry. He used his strength and anger for good - and became a hero. He defeated the Minyans who were oppressing the Thebes. The King then gave him his daughter as a reward for defeating the Minyans. A few years later, when coming home from a long voyage, Hera slapped Hercules (knowing he has a short fuse), and Hercules blew up and killed his wife and kids. This lead to him doing the 12 tasks - in order for forgiveness for killing his wife and kids. After completing the twelve tasks , Hercules had many other missions and tasks, including going off to many wars. All this time, Hera was still after him. He later married a second wife by the name of Deianeira. (If you watched the Disney movie Hercules, Deianeira is the one he saved from the centaur.) In mythology Hercules saved her from a centaur as well. Years passed , and Deianeira assumed that Hercules was in love with someone else. She then poisoned a cloak, and gave it to Hercules to wear. When Hercules put the cloak on, he was killed. When she realized what she had assumed was wrong, she killed herself.
